Padma lives with her husband and teenage son, in a turn of the century Bungalow
in a landmarked upper middle/middle class neighborhood. The beautiful tree lined
street feels like the suburbs but you are within steps of an express subway to
Manhattan. The home is quite large, simple and clean. Your living
area has a semi-private bath (half bath for you, but the shared shower is
upstairs). The cozy air conditioned, guest bedroom has two twin beds in the main
area. There is a private living room directly off the bedroom area with sofas
for relaxing, reading and planning the day’s events. Breakfast is taken in a
private dining area just for the guests.
This family emigrated from Sri Lanka, 22 years ago. She is a Montessori art
teacher and her husband is a Manager in a Chemical Industry Laboratory. They
have two daughters graduated from Yale and a son in one of the top NY high
schools. Padma speaks excellent English but her accent is indeed present though
very charming.
Many people have wondered if they are getting a true NY experience and indeed
they are in this home. The family, immigrants to America, came with very
little two decades ago and have lived the "American dream" of owning a
home and sending their children to the best schools to get an outstanding
education.
Padma and her husband and son are excited about hosting and look forward to
sharing their home with HSNY guests. Padma is an excellent cook (Sri Lankan
food) but breakfasts are American style. If you prefer an American dinner
just email her in advance for a change of menu.
